Don’t Wait To Fix Water Leaks!

Water damage can be worse than it looks! OP talks to Noah from Dynamic Environmental Services about mold remediation in a home with a severe plumbing leak and water damage. Post remediation inspection is one of the most critical parts of the restoration process. First, a visual inspection is done to confirm containment provisions are set up and remain intact. Second, a moisture survey is done to confirm there is no remaining wet materials. Third, air samples are taken both indoors and outdoors to be analyzed by microbiologists to ensure optimum air quality. Mold remediation includes your personal protective equipment setup, which has critical barriers sanding from the framing members disposal of the areas that contain mold detail cleaning. About 24 hours after wet wiping the air scrubbers, we have what we need to get our our clearance test. There are three aspects to our poster mediation inspection:

1. Visual inspection: At Allied Restoration we want to confirm and make sure that the containment provisions are set up correctly and that they remain intact. To make sure that your home is ready for inspection, clean, and with no remaining construction dust or debris. Such as critical barriers in windows and that there’s no remaining visual mold left on building materials of any kind whether exposed structural members or remaining drywall.
2. Moisture inspection (or moisture survey): Allied Restoration representative will go around the containment area of the work area and test various substrates of remaining building materials. Confirming that the location is within acceptable moisture levels that would be exposed with structural members (for example, the remaining drywall). We make sure that enough drywall was removed and that there is no remaining wet material that can affect the area.
3. Collecting air samples: Using Zep on bio pumps plus an air cell, Allied Restoration representative will collect an indoor air sample within the containment area and 2 outdoor control samples. This sample is taken for 45 minutes at 15 liters which gives a total volume of 75 liters once everything is collected. All samples are taken to take our Microbiologist, at Allied Licensed Laboratory to analyze the air cell frequency. Within one business day we receive back quantitative data from the analysis will determine the microbial level and help determine what types and concentrations of spores should be recommended.

In order to give you a better chance of passing the second time around it may be that you know there was a little bit of debris laying around. We would advice you to go back in with the heavy bag, clean those surfaces and detail clean the very wet white area. There might still be some elevated debris that may need to be cut open to know if anything behind it was left intact. Which our Allied Restoration representative will cut open, remove the drywall and see if the area can be restored.

Once you now you’ve got the Micro analysis report and we pass inspection, Allied Restoration will send (within about two to three business days) a full report and our clearance letter to make you feel safe in your home again.
